NewsON Adds Head of Marketing
Media Industry Veteran Brings Strategic, Interactive Expertise to Multi-Platform Local News Service
ATLANTA, GA, April 12, 2016 – NewsON, a venture dedicated to distributing local news nationwide across multiple platforms, today announced a key addition to its leadership team with the hiring of Derek Van Nostran as its head of marketing. Van Nostran brings over fifteen years of digital marketing experience in category-leading news and information media companies.

Previously, Van Nostran served as the vice president of digital marketing for CNN and vice president of brand strategy for The Weather Channel. In those roles, he successfully led marketing efforts to dramatically grow the app user bases of both The Weather Channel and CNN while strengthening the underlying company brands.

Van Nostran is a co-founder and past president of the Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association and served as the new media chair for the American Marketing Association Atlanta. His work has been recognized through a number of prestigious industry awards, including the CTAM (Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing) iTV Idol Awards, CableFAX Best of Web Awards, MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) Smartie Awards, and Telly Awards. Van Nostran’s passion lies around working with small, nimble teams to build brands in digital media. He earned his bachelorâ€™s degree in business administration from the University of Vermont. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two daughters.
